An exhibition of the evolution of music as it travelled the Atlantic from Africa to Latin America. In addition, castro/arts conceived and produced two films, one of Fernando Ortiz and his theory of transculteration, the second of the history and philosophy of Dr. Joseph Howard's collection of drums.

Gold of the Nomads: Scythian Treasures from Ancient Ukraine

Gold of the Nomads showcases ancient gold treasures of the Scythians, the fierce nomadic horsemen who roamed the European steppe from the seventh to the third centuries BC. In addition to the design for San Antonio Museum of Art and the Walters Art Gallery, castro/arts also produced a 352 page catalogue for Abrams publishing, titled "Scythian Gold."

Masks: Faces of Culture

The Saint Louis Art Museum
Design and installation of an exhibit displaying masks from the spans of time and different cultures. Graphic design for the exhibition included a 344 page catalogue for Abrams publishing, "Masks: Faces of Culture."

Charles Rennie Macintosh

Los Angeles County Museum of Art. 
A major exhibition of over two-hundred works including furniture, drawings, and paintings by the early modernist. The exhibition included six models of buildings and the installation of one of the principal tearooms which first brought major attention to the Scottish architect.

Caribbean Festival Arts 

Saint Louis Art Museum and the Smithsonian Institution.  
The premiere installation of an exhibition of the art of Caribbean Festival, representing major festival works from Jamaica, Trinidad, Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Bermuda, and Bahamas, to the North American diffusion of festival in London, Toronto, Brooklyn, and New Orleans. The exhibition incorporated costume, dance, video, and music. Castro/arts conceived and produced an accompanying 20-minute video on cultural diffusion, recreated the facades of six Caribbean houses, and provided most of the installation photography for photomurals and interpretive panels.

Cape Coast and Elmina Castles Museum Project

Cape Coast and Elmina, Ghana.
Project under aegis of Smithsonian Institution, Ghana Museum and Monuments Board, Central Region Development commission, Conservation International, USAID, and MUCIA.
Determination of appropriate museum spaces and overseeing their renovation into permanent museum exhibition spaces. Design and implementation of the permanent exhibition, Crossroads of People, Crossroads of Trade. Coordination of project with Ghanaian technicians. The project involved extensive work in Ghana over a two year period.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, California.
First comprehensive viewing of the Museum's American furniture collection (1695-1990). A 4,000 square foot installation of over 120 objects. Included the production of an introductory film and orientation space.

Black Folk Art in America

The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
Project entailed the installation of 200 two-and three-dimensional works of art, the partial reconstruction of two artist's working environments, and the adaption of the exhibition for travel (Graphic design included: exhibition graphics and 224 page book for University of Mississippi Press).

L'Amour Fou: Surrealism and Photography

The premiere installation of an exhibition of 220 photographs by eighteen 20th century Surrealist photographers. Project included assisting curators in selection of works and development of exhibition's focus. Also included installation consultation for other institutions on travel schedule.
